I'm Dina Bennett,  a writer, editor, and award-winning photographer based in Montreal, Quebec.  I'd like to make the world a better place, a more beautiful place, or at least far more understandable place, one word or image at a time.

I was selected as one of the Emerging Photographers of 2013 by PhotoLife magazine (Aug/Sep edition).

I believe in the connections between people, the journeys we are on, the way we experience our environment, and the stories we tell. I try to explore that in my work, when I'm not obsessively  photographing branches.....I really like trees. I think of myself as a situational photographer,  that what comes out of my camera is dictated by what is in me on any given day. To that end, my work is varied - please browse my portfolio and projects.

Someone once asked me what I wanted. Ok, it was a guy, so I had a lot of sappy romantic stuff that I wrote in a kind of Bull Durham-esque rant, but I also wrote this, and it is my mission statement:

I want to be happy. I want to be a good friend and a good mom, but most of all, I want to be a good me. I want to explore and learn and discover and experience as much as I can. I want to travel, meet people, write, read, photograph, and eat everything, and listen to music of course. I want to be challenged by people and my work, I want to be more patient with myself and others, and learn how to control the frantic person who emerges when I doubt myself. I want to learn how to put up a tent too.

The guy is gone, the doubt is muffled by the occasional purchase of cute shoes, and I'm still working on the tent.
